Description
The very high suspension bridge allows hikers to cross the Yellowstone river that flows underneath in the gorge. It was a 2 mile round trip hike. The trail had a steep incline and lots of switchbacks. It wasn't a moderate hike to the bridge where we decided to turn around and not go the other mile to the creek due to an elk carcuss that a grizzly was guarding. I thought that was a very good move! I did say it was a steep incline so of course you have to go back up that incline going back to the truck! It was a tough hike back up with several rest spots because we weren't used to that kinda of altitude (we live in the mountains but its the smokeys and they don't have near the altitude as these mountains do). It's a beautiful and exciting hike we saw lots of wildlife from Bison, mule deer, ground squirrels, and my favorite was a female Grouse! don't let the hike scare you, it was so amazing and we really enjoyed.
